Setting the scene for you. This is from a previous convo with an acquaintance :
HER: “wow you have long hair”
ME: “um… thank you. yeah hair grows. I only trim it. it’s been this long for years. Probably this long since I met you”
HER: “i follow you on Instagram and I don’t think there’s a single picture of your hair”
ME: “Good point. Um… I don’t think there’s many pictures of me period”
HER: “oh yeah you need to fix that. You NEED to be pictured. If only for the sake of your hair.”
So maybe she has a point. As moms (at least this one) it’s becoming second nature to snap our kiddos in action, and this mama LOVES taking pictures. BUT i’m in no pictures... For years, i’ve reminded my husband to snap pics with me. Well his phone only has pictures i’ve snapped as i steal his phone bc mine sits in a bowl of rice, or is not charged. And selfies are just hard, unless they are of my feet (THAT i can nail - but my hair isn’t down to my toes yet). And selfie-stick is just above my pay grade, and my abilities.
So why is it important? it chimes into my last post about teaching my daughter to be herself, no matter what. To stick up for herself. To be kind. To fight for others. SO what better example to take on “be herself, love herself” than to allow myself in front of lens. SO i’m taking a challenge to myself… and feel free to embark #mamaintheframe
